La Vie En Rose

Welcome to the streets of Durham! It is a place where you can discover amazing scenery that makes you feel nostalgic in every corner you go. As we have strolled in the notable streets of Durham City, we found various high street shops, eccentric handy craft stores, cafés, restaurants and boutiques as well. This time around, we didn't come for shopping instead we have come to enjoy the world class sites and breathtaking attractions.

This is the majestic Durham Cathedral. By the time we went, the cathedral itself was still in reconstruction. It is because this cathedral was built in 1093 to put in place for the Shrine of St. Cuthbert and the Venerable Bede. But who am I to complain when all these towering sandstone of Nave, the original medieval paintings and the beautiful rose windows left me in awe. What's more amazing is that the medieval cloister was featured in the first few films in Harry Potter. It is truly impressive!

A few steps away from Durham Cathedral is the Durham Castle. It was built in 11th century which is now said to be part of Durham University. Thus it is the home of Durham Students.

That's it for my short entry in Durham!

Au revoir,
Odaiji ni!

Many of you may not be familiar with Butlin's. Butlin's is a holiday camp opened by Sir Billy Butlins in the year of 1936 where its mission is to bring happiness and delight to the hard working families. His principles for a perfect holiday are mainly two things— it is to have a down-to-earth and straightforward break as he is himself. Sir Butlins felt the need of creating a peaceful place for families to stay during the post war years where he had seen Britain as a stressful place since it was recovering from all the post war disaster. Thanks to him, many families can now enjoy an affordable holiday camp! We left this place happily as we were able to unwind and made precious memories together.

There are so many places that are instagrammable! So we didn't miss this opportunity as we took hundreds of pictures.

There are huge variety of things to do when you're at Butlin's! These include golf, archery, fun fencing and football coaching for kids and ten-pin bowling. Some of them may be included with the accommodation but most of these activities must be booked in advance and must be paid separately. I guarantee that it's worth a try!

Splash Waterworld is the ultimate waterpark for family. There's no need to pay or book in advance as this is part of the accommodation. Actually, when we first arrived in UK, my auntie asked my brother and I if we brought any bathing suit. And we told her that how can we bring bathing suit if the temperature here is 10 degrees Celsius? She chuckled telling us that of course we won't swim in outdoors.

My cousin and I successfully went on all the slides until we became very tired. It's always fun to try something new!

A souvenir shop is also available at Butlin's. Shop until you drop!

A snooker can also be played in this area. According from the India Times website, "In snooker, there are 15 red and six coloured balls and one cue ball. The player has to pot a red first, then a colour, and again a red, and so on. At the end of the frame the player with more points wins. " Thus we can say that it is different from billiards.

A chocolate vending machine! *drools*

Theme Park is also right around the corner of Butlin's resort rooms. All of the rides are for free!

Of course we didn't miss the live shows in Butlin's! It's a must see when you're here. Most of the people line up to see amazing shows like the Aladdin Rocks, Laughter Camera Action, live band and many more!

And my most favorite part is of course the buffet. I had 4 days of happy tummy having to eat variety of foods!

This is undeniably one of the coolest resort I've been to! Hoping you enjoyed this blog post!

Odaiji ni,
Au revoir!
