Welcome to the streets of Durham! It is a place where you can discover amazing scenery that makes you feel nostalgic in every corner you go. As we have strolled in the notable streets of Durham City, we found various high street shops, eccentric handy craft stores, cafés, restaurants and boutiques as well. This time around, we didn't come for shopping instead we have come to enjoy the world class sites and breathtaking attractions.
This is the majestic Durham Cathedral. By the time we went, the cathedral itself was still in reconstruction. It is because this cathedral was built in 1093 to put in place for the Shrine of St. Cuthbert and the Venerable Bede. But who am I to complain when all these towering sandstone of Nave, the original medieval paintings and the beautiful rose windows left me in awe. What's more amazing is that the medieval cloister was featured in the first few films in Harry Potter. It is truly impressive!
A few steps away from Durham Cathedral is the Durham Castle. It was built in 11th century which is now said to be part of Durham University. Thus it is the home of Durham Students.
That's it for my short entry in Durham!
Au revoir,
Odaiji ni!
