Packing 101: How to Pack Wisely

by - 7:59 AM

I cannot deny that I love traveling. There's something that is satisfying whenever I get to interact with the new people I meet. It gives me a new perspective and a new adventure.  Here are my few tips and tricks in packing wisely whether you are traveling out of town or out of the country.

TIP #1: Choose the right kind of luggage

Keep in mind that you have innumerable options when selecting the appropriate travel luggage. First and foremost, ask yourself on where you are going and how long you are going to stay on your trip.

In choosing the right size, think of the duration of your stay. If you will be having a vacation for 2 months, a 28" luggage is advisable; 24" luggage will be just right if you will only travel for 1 to 2 weeks. I furthermore recommend to use a four wheeled luggage because it slides over the ground perfectly having to maneuver more easily. Plus, you have a choice to switch it into 2 wheeled luggage or vice versa. It's 2-in-1 baby! And lastly, for the durability of your luggage you can either choose a hard sided or a soft sided luggage depending on your preference.

TIP #2: Scrutinize what you need

Lay out everything you think you might need on a clean floor. Only choose items that you cannot live without. For instance, if you are in doubt of a certain item like having to decide whether to bring a heavy coat or layers opt wisely for layers. Just think of it, you can put more clothes and other things on your luggage if you will bring layers rather than a heavy coat. Always remember to pack smart!

TIP #3 Plan your outfits

You must know the weather of the place that you are going to in order to figure out on how you can pack light with the outfits that you are bringing.

TIP #4 Roll or fold selected clothes

Choose fabrics that are less wrinkly like cotton, knits or wools. Not all your clothes are meant to be rolled some of your clothes such as long skirts or blazers must be folded carefully.

You must place your most needed clothes like pajama at the top layer so that once you arrive to your destination you can get it without digging through your luggage.

There's a genius tip that I have read online. Anna Sophie, a model, said that when her clothes get wrinkled from a suitcase, she takes a hot shower and keep the heat steam inside. She, then, puts her wrinkled clothes in a hanger which makes her clothes flat and less wrinkly.

TRICK #1 Place fragile items over a thick fabric

TRICK #2 Place a cling wrap at the opening of the spillable items and wrap it with rubber band

Don't forget to bring your necessary items!

My carry-on essentials:

Even if you will have a short trip or a long one, make sure to do the same- which is to keep your clothes tightly packed and very organized. Enjoy your trip if ever you'll have one!

I will be leaving soon for a summer vacation. Wish me a safe flight! ;)

Odaiji ni,
Au revoir!
